I am Ισιδώρα Μπουζιούρη and I am an Athenian; born in Athens, Greece and based in Edinburgh, Athens of the North. I am a Music & Theatre practitioner and a proud worker of the arts.

 

As a singer, I have  performed with function bands in several occasions around Greece and I have gigged as leading-vocalist of jazz/blues/folk groups in Greece and in the UK. As an actress and performer, I have performed in all kinds of prose theatre, Ancient Drama, dance & physical theatre, etc. I have composed, edited and curated music for theatre, I have created an award-winning devised-comedy and I have co-written, directed and performed a solo stand-up cabaret. I have been teaching vocal technique for speech and singing as well as acting for over 10 years.  I have coordinated/managed/produced for independent artistic groups and I have worked as audience/event/venue manager for events like the Edinburgh Fringe. Finally, I am part of the core team of Syn Festival Edinburgh a multi-arts, multi-cultural, voluntary, free festival supporting emerging artists.

I joined Oceanallover as song-writer, physical performer and leading/backing vocalist for this outdoor performance presented in Surge, Fringe & Manipulate Festival and across Scotland.

 

"Tribute to Marika Ninou" rebetiko concerts | 2018, 2019

I researched, wrote and performed as leading singer this tribute to the greek rebetiko singer and the historical & social circumstances of her career. The tribute was part of the "Muses of Mediterranean" series of concerts, presented in various venues across London.

 

"Forbidden stories" by Ludens Ensemble | 2017-2019

I joined Ludens transcripting & translating interviews,devising and building the dramaturgy of the performance, curating the music and performing as singer and actress. The performance was presented in Pafos, Cultural Capital of Europe 2017, Fringe Festival Edinburgh, Voila Europe Theatre Festival in Cockpit, London and across Scotland.

I wrote the story, co-wrote, directed and performed in pubs across Edinburgh.

 

A. Zary's "Ubu Roi" by Ludens Ensemble | 2016-2017

I joined Ludens Ensemble as Assistant Director & Assistant Producer for this multi-media performance, presented in Hidden Door & Fringe festival in Edinburgh , Pafos, Cultural Capital of Europe, Berlin Schaubude and toured in Scotland and in China.

 

"Zing Boom" series of concerts | 2014-2015

Along with the pianist Tasos Halkidis, we created a program of unexpectedly paired songs with influences variyng from arias to pop hits and world music.

 

"Party Time" based on H. Pinter's short plays | 2014-2015

I performed as Julia in the production directed by George Kimoulis and presented in Athens and Thessaloniki

 

Aristpophanes' "Thesmophoriazusae" | 2014

I performed as a member of the chorus and leading vocalist in this Ancient Drama production in summer tour accross Greece.

I performed as Aleka in this bar-theatre, musical performance directed by Zoe Xanthopoulou and performed in Athens.

I co-directed this political devised comedy, awarded as best performance by Neos Kosmos Theatre Festival.
